How did InnerLight Yoga Studio Get Started?
[ 5 minute read ]
Vinyasa Vanessa wasn’t sure what she wanted to do for a career. She never enjoyed the typical 9 to 5 job and instead waitressed in the evenings. During the day, Vanessa taught yoga at various local yoga studios and babysat for busy moms. As time passed, Vanessa found her heart was most drawn to sharing her yoga practice.
When Vinyasa Vanessa came to Anahata Yoga Studio, she really didn’t have a formal plan as to how to start a yoga studio, just a deep commitment to changing her life to do something she loved.
Here is Vanessa's story, in her own words, which she hopes will help others who are on a similar path.
The Challenge
I so badly wanted to start a yoga studio and be my own boss. I'm a dedicated yoga teacher and love the yoga community. Only problem was that I was totally clueless about business! I didn’t know the first thing about websites, sales, or marketing - let alone creating a business plan or securing a loan with that business plan. I knew I needed a business coach and I was super relieved when I found a business consultant that specializes in yoga studios.
The Approach
I found Anahata Yoga Consulting on Pinterest when researching ideas for ways to design my dream studio. I quickly booked a call through the website and in just a couple days I was on the free phone consultation.
Rebecca uncovered what was most important to me. And to be honest, at the time, I wasn’t even really sure what was most important to me! Mostly because I didn’t know the questions to ask. That one phone call really helped me understand my goals and Rebecca, my Anahata Consultant, literally translated my unorganized ideas into a real business outline.
The Results
After that call, I received a proposal from Rebecca at Anahata that was customized to my goals. After reading the proposal, I was certain I needed a business coach to help me. But, what really sealed the deal for me was when Rebecca started coming to my yoga classes. She explained that she wanted to ‘get a sense of my teaching vibe’. I knew right then, I had found a real partner who would help me build a business that would allow me to be true to who I am.
Together we researched locations and worked with realtors, lawyers, bankers and contractors. We designed the studio together and built the website and smarketing plan together.
Rebecca joined me at the studio launch in 2015 and helped me promote my new studio for months after the opening. I'm certain I couldn’t have done this without such great support and guidance! I couldn't be more thankful.
The Future
Vinyasa Vanessa opened her second yoga studio in 2018 and is now offering teacher trainings and international workshops. The Anahata team couldn’t be more proud of the relationship with InnerLight Yoga Studio and we are so grateful for the opportunity to play a role in making Vinyasa Vanessa’s dream of owning a yoga studio come true!
